PUBLICATION ETHICS

Transformatio: Journal of Theology, Education, and Integral Mission is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics, academic integrity, and research quality. This publication ethics statement is based on the principles and best practices developed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and serves as a guideline for all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.

The journal upholds the following ethical principles:

  1. Academic Integrity – ensuring honesty in research and publication, and preventing plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, and data manipulation.
  2. Fairness and Objectivity – promoting an unbiased editorial and peer-review process without discrimination.
  3. Transparency and Accountability – encouraging disclosure of conflicts of interest, funding sources, and responsibility for published work.
  4. Confidentiality – safeguarding all information obtained during the editorial and review processes.

 

Duties and Responsibilities of Authors

  1. Present research findings accurately, honestly, and objectively in accordance with accepted scholarly standards.
  2. Ensure that submitted manuscripts are original works and free from plagiarism.
  3. Refrain from submitting the same manuscript simultaneously to more than one journal or publication outlet.
  4. Properly acknowledge and cite all sources used in the research and writing process.
  5. Provide sufficient methodological and bibliographical information to enable scholarly verification and replication where applicable.
  6. Ensure that authorship accurately reflects individual contributions to the research and manuscript preparation.
  7. Disclose any financial, institutional, or personal conflicts of interest that may influence the research or its interpretation.
  8. Respond to editorial and reviewer comments professionally, respectfully, and in a timely manner.
  9. Promptly notify the editor if a significant error or inaccuracy is discovered in a submitted or published work.
  10. Adhere to ethical research standards, including respect for privacy, confidentiality, and the rights of research participants when human subjects are involved.

 

Duties and Responsibilities of Editors

  1. Making publication decisions based on the scholarly merit, originality, relevance, and quality of submitted manuscripts, as well as the results of the peer-review process.
  2. Managing the editorial and peer-review processes fairly, objectively, and transparently.
  3. Evaluating manuscripts solely on their intellectual content, without discrimination based on race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, religion, political beliefs, or institutional affiliation.
  4. Maintaining the confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts and related communications.
  5. Avoiding and disclosing conflicts of interest that may affect editorial decisions.
  6. Safeguarding the academic quality and integrity of the journal.
  7. Issuing corrections, clarifications, retractions, or apologies when necessary.
  8. Promoting responsible academic dialogue and scholarly freedom within the fields of theology, education, and integral mission.

 

Duties and Responsibilities of Reviewers

  1. Conduct reviews objectively, fairly, and constructively, supported by scholarly arguments and evidence.
  2. Assist editors in making publication decisions regarding submitted manuscripts.
  3. Maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts and refrain from using unpublished information for personal benefit.
  4. Identify relevant published works that have not been cited and report suspected plagiarism, duplicate publication, or other ethical concerns.
  5. Decline review assignments when conflicts of interest exist or when they lack sufficient expertise in the subject area.
  6. Complete reviews within the agreed timeframe or promptly inform the editor if an extension is required.
  7. Provide recommendations aimed at improving the scholarly quality and contribution of the manuscript.

 

Duties and Responsibilities of the Publisher

  1. Supporting the implementation of ethical publication standards throughout the publication process.
  2. Preserving editorial independence and ensuring that commercial considerations do not influence editorial decisions.
  3. Assisting in the investigation and resolution of publication ethics issues when necessary.
  4. Ensuring the preservation, accessibility, and long-term availability of published scholarly content.

 

Publication Malpractice and Ethical Violations

Transformatio does not tolerate any form of publication malpractice, including but not limited to:

  • Plagiarism;
  • Data fabrication;
  • Data falsification;
  • Duplicate or redundant publication;
  • Citation manipulation;
  • Undisclosed conflicts of interest;
  • Abuse of the peer-review process.

When evidence of unethical conduct is identified, the Editorial Board reserves the right to investigate the matter and take appropriate action, including manuscript rejection, publication of corrections, article retraction, or other measures in accordance with established publication ethics guidelines.
